Cruzin' into Summer

A few weeks to go!

By Sue Peterson, Publisher Mom Chico Macaroni Kid May 1, 2013
Well, the month of May is here, which means only a few weeks left in the school year (for those of us with teaching jobs and kids in school) and before Summer officially starts.  I can't believe it is already here and I haven't really made any plans for my summer months.  But, maybe that is a good thing.  After trying numerous different publishing days to see if there was any difference in how many clicked through in the newsletter, I have decided on a Wednesday publication day.  This gives you plenty of time to plan for the weekend and gives me enough time to recover from any weekend activities that I might be doing!  So, from now on, please check for the issues on Wednesday morning and use them to plan for your weekend!

I plan to do some Summer Bucket List activities here in the newsletter - some will be local from the 101 Things To Do in Butte County book and others may require a road trip and others will be doable in your own house or backyard.  But, I plan to do this in each newsletter starting with Memorial Day and running through the summer.  Perhaps it will give you some ideas for those "I'm bored" times that pop up during the summer.

I will also have an ongoing "Summer 'Free'dom" column that will include all the special free offers for summer.  This issue includes information about Barnes and Noble's Summer Reading program that can score your child a free book.  There are some great local programs through the library and local businesses as well, so I'll be sure to try to stay on top of those!

I hope to find some local events to attend representing Macaroni Kid this summer as well.  If you know of any local festivals or fairs that you think fits the Macaroni Kid demographic, please submit it via the "Submit an Event" button on the webpage!
