Where to See the Best Fall Colors in Chico
Looking for the top places to enjoy peak fall foliage in Chico? Here are the most scenic spots for a day of autumn exploration with kids and your family:
1. Bidwell Park
Address: South Park Drive
Best for Walking!
This is our favorite spot in Chico to go for a peaceful stroll among the fall colors! Bidwell Park is gorgeous year-round, and the autumn leaves make it extra special.
2. The Esplanade
Address: The Esplanade from Cohasset Road to Memorial
Best for Driving! (A)
Sure, there's quite a bit of road construction going on this season, but don't let that stop you from enjoying this iconic drive! The kids will especially enjoy looking up at all the trees while you pay attention to all those orange cones.
3. Vallombrosa Avenue
Address: From Mangrove to Manzanita Avenues
Best for Driving! (B)
Mature trees, charmingly unique homes, and Chico's beautiful Bidwell Park line this long winding avenue. There are a few stop signs, but it's not as busy as the Esplanade (and has less orange cones to look out for).
4. "Old 32" Old Humboldt Road Trailhead
Address: Bruce Road and Humboldt Road (1351 E 9th Street on Google Maps)
Best for a Bike Ride!
Breathtaking sunsets and panoramic views await! You can no longer bring a vehicle up this historic road, so plan on walking or riding uphill. It will be worth it when you see the view of Chico from above!
5. Hooker Oak Park
Address: 1928 Manzanita Avenue
Best for a playdate!
Meeting up with friends to play and enjoy the fall leaves? Hooker Oak Park has 2 playgrounds, a kids disc-golf course, creek access, softball and baseball fields, bike/walking paths, clean bathrooms, and (of course) mature trees all around to enjoy together.
